For our honeymoon we spent a week at the Excellence Riviera Cancun, on the Mayan Riviera. It was WONDERFUL! The weather was gorgeous all week. We got a few brief showers and on the last day it was a little cloudy, but otherwise it was 90 and sunny all week. We did a lot of lounging by the pool, reading, and enjoying the restaurants and bars. All-inclusive is DEFINITELY the way to go! It was our first AI experience and we are sold.

We did two excursions - we took a day trip to Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world. It is 17 square miles of Mayan ruins, and it's really amazing to see. We both like to visit local cultural sites, so we enjoyed learning about the history of the Mayans, but it was REALLY hot, and we were both not feeling well that day, so I don't think we got as much out of it as we could have.

We also went SCUBA diving, which we both absolutely loved! Neither of us had ever been before, but the resort offered a program that included a short course in the pool and then a reef dive with instructors. It was much easier than I expected it to be and we saw some really awesome coral and fish. We will definitely be doing that again!
